Newark Division of Police is looking to hire lateral transfers. We are looking to add two to three (2-3) lateral transfer Officers. Interested candidates should apply by October 15, 2020.

Qualifications:

Lateral Police Officer candidates must have a minimum of two (2) years full time experience or five (5) years part time experience or the equivalent combination as determined by the Safety Director. Candidates also need to be currently OPOTA certified.

Candidates must successfully pass a background investigation including, but not limited to:

  • Interview
  • Physical abilities test (standards listed below)
  • Physical
  • Psychological evaluation
  • Polygraph/CVSA

 

Compensation and Benefits:

Wages: up to the 25-36 month police pay rate, $27.14/hr – $56,457.14/year – 2020

$28.23/hr – $58,715.43/year – 2021

$29.36/hr – $61,064.04/year – 2022

Top Patrol Officer pay rate, $29.49/hr – $61,339.48/year – 2020

$30.66/hr – $63,793.06/year – 2021

$31.89/hr – $66,344.78/year – 2022

  • Sick leave balance transfers from other public employers in Ohio.
  • Service time may transfer towards determining vacation hours earned each year and start accruing immediately, if there is not a break in service.
  • Eligible day one for health insurance (which is subsidized substantially by the employer), Dental, term Life Policy, and voluntary FSA.
  • Three (3) floating holidays, two (2) personal days, plenty of overtime opportunities for comp time (Maximum 480 hour bank) or cash.
  • Yearly “sick leave” buy/sell back, up to 120 hours.
  • Yearly physical fitness incentive – up to 20 hours of comp time.
  • Patrol Bureau work schedule, 4 – 10 hour shifts. Sunday-Wednesday or Wednesday-Saturday. All employees work on Wednesdays, Division wide training occurs on Wednesdays.
