The Newark Division of Police is instituting changes in business practices due to the recent increases in COVID-19 cases. The Newark Division of Police will be extending the following changes until at least January 9th. Obviously these changes will be adjusted as circumstances develop and new information is received.

  • We have cancelled all civilian ride-alongs and/or building tours.
  • We have cancelled all public meetings and speaking engagements.
  • We have closed the public lobby.
    • All records requests will be handled electronically. This can be done on our website at www.newarkpd.com or by calling 740-670-7209.
    • Impounded vehicles can be recovered by calling 740-670-7224.
    • Property and evidence in the possession of NPD will not be released at this time. Exigent circumstances will be considered by calling 740-670-7268.
    • We will not be doing background checks and/or fingerprinting.
  • We will not be picking up found or abandoned property.
  • Non-emergency calls for service will be handled over the telephone whenever practicable.

By instituting these changes, we endeavor to limit our employees’ exposure to any illness and ensure we can continue to respond to all emergency calls as needed. The community’s well-being is still our number one priority as we continue to work through this uncharted water together.
